“Director Steven Meerdink fearlessly lets loose with a production that shamelessly borrows both from its better-known peers and from contemporary zeitgeist.  Kim Kivens plays her role to the hilt, endowing Miss Strict with an evil astigmatism and the personality of a Stepford Wife who hasn't had her bran.  Shaun Nathan Baer deadpans — perhaps un-dead-pans is a better word — his way through the role of Jonny.  For her part, Emily Brooke Hansen — in full flutter and blush — plays Toffee sweet and feisty but a little dim, a just-right concoction backed up — as is Baer's performance — with a solid set of vocal chords.  Catherine Battocletti's choreography pokes fun at everything from "West Side Story" to Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video.
